The New York office of the W. J. Austen & Co., was located at 106 Duane Street, Oswego, New York. It was owned by the druggist, William J. Austen, a manufacturer of perfumery bitters and other related medicinal products. This original trade card was published for the W. J. Austen & Company before the firm was sold or transferred around 1886 to Thomas Kingsford of (T. Kingsford & son, an Oswego Starch Factory that Manufactured Pure and Silver Gloss Starch for Laundry, Corn Starch and Prepared Corn for Culinary Use, incorporated 1848).
